We worship at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday morning, 52 weeks a year, with the exception of Easter Sunday, when we hold three services: 6:30 a.m., 9:00 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. Visitors are always welcome to our services.
We celebrate an open communion on an established schedule. In addition to our 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning worship services, we also have special services on particular occasions. These include:
Ash Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.: We hold a service of scripture, song and prayer in the Sanctuary led by our pastoral staff; the imposition of ashes is available.
Palm Sunday, 10:00 a.m.: We begin our worship with a procession including a church member representing Jesus during his triumphal entry into Jerusalem (our sanctuary) on a donkey while our children wave palm fronds. The service then proceeds in word and music to mark Jesus’ journey into Jerusalem and through Holy Week leading to Easter.
Maundy Thursday, 7:30 p.m.: A service of Tenebrae, Confirmation and Communion. Our youth are confirmed and share in the leadership during this service.
Good Friday, noon: We hold a joint service with our sister church, Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, here at Plymouth Church.
Easter Sunday: We begin with a 6:30 a.m. Sunrise Service with Communion in the Cloister Garden. At 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Plymouth holds festival services of word and music. There is an Easter Egg Hunt for the little ones held after the 9:00 a.m. service.
Advent: We celebrate the beginning of the Advent season with “Hanging of the Greens,” celebrating the beginning of the Advent season through traditional music, drama and decorations.
Christmas Eve: Plymouth holds three distinct services. At 5:00 p.m. there is a family service that concludes with music and live animals in a creche for the children to pet outside in the Cloister Garden. At 8:00 p.m. there is a traditional service of lessons and carols, highlighted by the choir and music resources of our congregation. At 11:00 p.m. there is a candlelight Communion service that concludes with the congregation singing “Silent Night.”
Christmas Day, 10:00 a.m.: Plymouth holds a brief, informal family service. The Christmas Story and a special Christmas prayer are the focus of this service.
