The Women’s Fellowship, currently chaired by JoAnne Matthews, meets the second Friday of the month three times per year and works through various circles, organizations and activities to bring together women for both service and the simple joy of shared company.
THIS 'N THAT SHOP
Women's Fellowship has the additional resource of its own thrift shop located at 3155 Commodore Plaza in downtown Coconut Grove, established in 1957. Under the guidance of Jan Lowe and her able steering committee, and with the volunteer labor of the Women's Fellowship and others, the This 'N That Shop provides valuable dollars for Plymouth's various mission projects.
The Shop is open from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Donations of quality items such as small furniture, clothing, books, toys, household items, glassware, collectibles, and jewelry are gratefully accepted during store hours or at Plymouth Church after the service on the third Sunday of the month. For pickups of large loads, call the shop at 305.448.2114.
TRAPP CIRCLE
The Trapp Circle is a fellowship and service organization that meets at 7:30 p.m on the first Tuesday of each month. The meetings occur from October - May and are generally held in Pilgrim House unless otherwise noted.
Minnie B. Trapp, the woman for whom the Circle was named, was the Superintendant of Plymouth's Church School in 1897. A tradition of active involvement in the mission of the Church is very much the essence of Trapp Circle.
TRIUNE CLUB
The Triune Club meets, as it has for more than three decades, for fellowship and service. Triune meets monthly (except in the summer), usually in either Davis Hall or Pilgrim House, at 6:30 p.m. on the third Friday of the month, for a dinner and program. The Triune Club is currently led by Bill and Shirley Good.
ROSS APGAR MEN’S CLUB
The Ross Apgar Men’s Club meets for lunch at noon on the second Wednesday of each month (September through May) in Pilgrim House. Each meeting features a speaker from either inside or outside our church membership. The luncheons are informal. Reservations are not necessary. For more information, please contact J.B. deRosset.
FRIENDS OF EVE OUTINGS FOR SENIORS
The “Friends of Eve” outings for seniors, funded by a bequest from the late Eve Dickie and named in her memory, is a special events and outings program geared toward mature seniors. For some events, a broadly defined group is invited. At other times, programs targeted toward special interests or abilities are scheduled. The Friends of Eve committee consists of Shirley Fountain, chair, Mary Ellis, Louise Friberg, and Barbara Labuzan. Please call the church office for information about the next scheduled event.
FAMILY OUTINGS
Outings are held for Plymouth members and friends, young and old, singles and families, to gather together and enjoy each other’s company. Three years ago a group of boating members began a tradition of gathering yearly for a boating “raft up” off of Sands Key. During the Christmas season, we gather for an old fashioned caroling party and pot-luck dinner. Other annual activities include theater outings and an afternoon bike/tram safari through Shark Valley.
MOVIES AT THE MANSE
The Manse is the elegant old home where Judy and Tom Niblock live. It’s just to the right of our office building and it has a wonderful big central hall. From time to time, Judy and Tom invite the congregation to come over on a Friday evening for some fellowship, popcorn, conversation and a movie. This is an informal, fun way to get to know a few people and have a good time in the process. Suggestions for movies are always welcome. The scheduled movies are announced in the Plymouth News and Sunday bulletin.
CALLED TO CARE
Called To Care is a group of Plymouth volunteers, teens to seniors, who minister to fellow members that are homebound, seriously ill, or would appreciate a friendly call or visit. Volunteers seek to establish a caring relationship with their Called To Care partners through making phone calls, sending notes, giving rides to church, or making personal visits.
If you wish to become involved, simply contact the church office and leave a message.
