Directed by Anne Booker, Plymouth Preschool of Plymouth Congregational Church is a non-profit, church-related school with an “open door” policy.
Plymouth’s staff and parents are concerned with the growth of the whole child and, most importantly, the child’s happy conviction that he or she is a person of value. Emphasis is placed on developing friendships, a good self esteem and love for learning. High priority is placed on meaningful play, experiences with concrete material, plenty of small and large motor activities, social interaction and the freedom of expression through art, music and literature.
Monthly “chapel” focuses briefly on experiences, relationships and information that will nurture spiritual and moral growth at the child’s level. Children of varied faith backgrounds are welcomed, as there is no attempt to present denominational doctrine.
Although we do not provide all year “day care” in the usual sense of the term, we do provide before-school care at 8:00 a.m. and afternoon care until 5:00 p.m. Arrangements for child care must be made elsewhere for holidays, teacher workdays, when school is not in session, and for days when the child is ill.
The Preschool events during the school year include Preschool Sunday, Book Fair, Halloween Parade, Thanksgiving Sharing, our “Littlest Angels” Family Christmas Party, Spring Sharing in April, and the Mayfest family picnic in May.
A child must be at least two years old by September 1st of the school year to be eligible for the two-day class, or three to be eligible for the five-day class. Children in the three-day class must be three by March 1st.
Church members who have been active members for at least three months are eligible to register their child first and then registration is opened to the community at large. Please obtain a registration application from the Preschool Office or call 305-448-8774 for further information, or email us at:
