SENIOR PASTOR REV. DR. THOMAS R. NIBLOCK

Tom Niblock was born in Waterville, Maine, the son of two professional educators.  The family moved from Maine to Boston when Tom was in the third grade.

Tom graduated from Winchester High School, Denison University, and Andover Newton Theological Seminary.  In 2001 he received a Doctor of Sacred Theology degree from the Florida Center for Theological Education.

After his ordination in 1973 in the Metropolitan Boston Association of The Massachusetts Conference of The United Church of Christ, he joined the staff of the Maine Seacoast Missionary Society as a Field Chaplain.  It was during these years that  Tom and his wife, Judy, had their first son, Andrew.

The Niblock family moved to Middletown, Connecticut in 1976 where Tom served as Senior Pastor of The South Congregational Church.  Ross, their second son, was born in Middletown.  During his decade in Connecticut Tom served on several city commissions, the state’s task force on violence and institutions, and helped found both an alcohol treatment facility and a shelter for abused women and children.

In 1986 the Niblocks moved to Dover, Massachusetts in suburban Boston.  For the next dozen years Judy and Tom helped the Dover Church to grow in both numbers and activity.  It was also during these years that Tom established a partnership between an inner city Boston Church and The Dover Church.

In 1998 Judy and Tom came to Plymouth Congregational Church in Coconut Grove.  It’s a long way from New England to Miami, but as Tom often says, “It has been the best move of my life.”  Not only do Judy and Tom enjoy their working life in Miami, they also embrace both Miami’s diversity and its vitality.
